A superhero is a type of character possessing extraordinary or superhuman powers. By most definitions, characters do not strictly require actual superhuman powers to be deemed superheroes. If you pick your top ten superheroes of all time, how would your list of top ten superheroes compare with others?

My Lesson: Find your SuperHeroes that will fill you with SuperPowers.

How often we read and hear about believing in ourselves and I wonder … but… HOW DO I KNOW I BELIEVE IN MYSELF? And then my next question is.. .WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE IN MYSELF?

My Lesson: Find the WHY and you’ll find the HOW! True?!?!?!

To Senior or not to Senior....

You know you are too old to Trick or Treat when: 10. You keep knocking on your own front door. 9. You remove your false teeth to change your appearance. 8. You ask for soft high fiber candy only. 7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, and you lose your balance and fall over. 6. People say: 'Great Boris Karloff Mask,' And you're not wearing a mask. 5. When the door opens you yell, 'Trick or...' And you can't remember the rest. 4. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders. 3. You have to carefully choose a costume that doesn't dislodge your hairpiece. 2. You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker. And the number one reason Seniors should not go Trick Or Treating... * * * 1. You keep having to go home to pee.
My Lesson: No matter what age or label (senior) or color... I choose to have a good time .. with or without trick or treating monsters...

Do you have your ABCs?

Everybody can create their own ABCs of happiness because I think that everybody has a different definition for "happiness". Regardless, I totally love the K in this list... hence... KKKKKKKababie Baby!!!!!

My lesson: have fun with your ABCs and change them whenever, but have your ABCs. Isn't happiness a state of mind anyways!?!?!

Never underestimate the size of your teacher or you might be missing BIG LESSONS!

My lesson: size is not everything… (PG rated?!?)

You know how many times I told myself in the last few months: suck it up buttercup!!! And now I discover this:

Buttercup is one of the three main characters in the animated televison series, Powerpuff Girls . She is the strongest of the group and wears a green dress and has a black bob haircut.

My lesson: never underestimate the power of a green buttercup!!!

When somebody told me: "You are not what has happened to you. You ARE what you choose to become. And by the way, circumstances don't make you, they just define you."

OH WELL.... they happen to me, they make me, I choose, I define...

My lesson: BRING IT ON BABY!!!! Just bring it on!!!!

Just when I thought I had ALL the answers, they go and change ALL the questions. WHAT's UP WITH THAT?!?!?!

My lesson: Confused but looking good!!!!! OH YEAH BABY!

A friend just posted “I avoid toxic people and spend time with positive like-minded people“ and I thought…. Don’t we all have our toxic moments?!?!?!

My lesson: please don’t focus on my toxic moments because we all have some of those. I just hope to have more of the positive moments.

Ladies, know your numbers!!!!

All this experience I'm living is teaching me to share more and more. How many times we miss the boat by not sharing information that we assume everybody knows. And you know what they say about assuming... if you assume... you make an ... of U and ME so, let's not ASS U ME!!!!

LADIES!!!!! please know your CA-125. VERY IMPORTANT!!!! Two years ago friends in Guatemala told me about this CA-125 and when I came back to Canada I asked for it. No, actually, I begged for it because when I asked for it I was told I was too young for that. Well, cancer doesn't discriminate age, or color, or shape. So Ladies, please research and inform yourselves about your CA-125. It could save your lifes!!!!! Husbands, do it for and with your ladies too!!!

My lesson: be aware because just saying "I didn't know that" won't cut it anymore! And... BIG THANK YOU TO MY GG's because they made me aware of this CA-125!!!!

In the hospital, I learned that there is always something to be discovered...

As kids, we discover something new everyday. As adults, do we continue discovering anything new every day?!?!??!! /

My lesson: let that kid in me discover new settings and something new every day!!!!! YEAH BABY!

Lemons or limes?

When you go to battle to fight, fight, fight....it's important to look your best, best, best...and that means FABULOUS! Some people turn lemons into lemonade...well I'm turning my "limes" into a mojito!
Wigs are lovely, but I'm a scarf lady and while I'm doing my Chemo, I've had and I'm going to have some big fun with them! My lesson: lemon, lime or orange, have fun getting some fabulous vitamin C!!!!!!

"strength and courage" & "hope and determination"

“United by the daffodil, we will show people living with cancer that they don’t have to face cancer alone”

“To some, the daffodil is just a flower – to the Cancer Society it is a symbol of strength and courage. It says we will not give up, we will fight back, we will beat cancer.”

The lapel pins are symbols of hope and determination; they show support for people battling cancer and honour those who have been lost to the disease.

Join with millions of Canadians in support of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Daffodil Month this April by donning a bright yellow daffodil pin.

YOU LOOK WONDERFUL TODAY!

I wonder how many times I looked like this in the hospital and yet nurses were still nice enough to take care of me and to tell me:  YOU LOOK WONDERFUL TODAY!
My lesson:  Thanks for not judging the book by the cover!

Bushy situation!!!! (became PG rated by request!!!)

They told me I was going to lose my hair.  So I decided to be proactive!!!   No, no, no, I didn’t shave my head, but I decided not to shave anything AT ALL and let everything grow more yet!!!  I thought if we are going to mess with my hair, well, then I will give you more to mess with!!!  AJA! (That’s my way of being proactive and rebellious!!)
Well, God is wonderful and has a wonderful sense of humor because not only I haven’t lost my hair but now you can call me MISS BUSHY!!!!!  Bushy legs, bushy here and bushy there…. And my eyebrows?!?!?!?  YEAP…. BUSHY!!!!  Well… so much for being rebellious!!
My lesson:  be proactive but have a PLAN B in place, just in case!!!

With a very grateful heart…

Yesterday was a very special day.  I was so thankful in my heart.  Some were celebrating Resurrection and some Passover.  I was celebrating both and; thinking and feeling very grateful for everything and everybody.  Thank you to FRIENDS and FAMILY for all your prayers and thoughts.  Your love and support has been such a motivator for us and it’s in our hearts.
BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE NURSES out there!!!  When I think about the many days I spent with some of them.   The many tears and smiles shared with them and the many times they looked at me with a wonderful expression of:  YOU’ll BE FINE!!!!
My lesson:  To always try to thank everybody for everything and anything because we never know if we’ll have another opportunity to thank them again.   Thank you LORD!!!!

Wrong one! (PG rated!)

SO, a hospital story...

I was taken for a pelvic ultrasound.  That means, they check you out with a “camara” externally and internally.

So, this wonderful Technician, an expert in what she does and you can tell she is very good at it and very professional, but misses the right hole!!!!  One too far!!!

So I was forced to telling an expert:  HEY HEY HEY!!! What are you doing there?!?!?!   WRONG ONE!!!  Come back, not even my husband is allowed there!!!!

We sure laughed, but she could’ve fooled me if I wasn’t paying attention!!! (no April's fool here!!!!)

My lesson: it’s ok to tell even an expert that she’s in the wrong hole!!!!!

How long does it take us to learn something!??!! DUH!!!!

Lately I’ve been saying this a lot:  I’ll do my best with I can control, the rest, I will let go and let God.
What a load off my back it feels when I really mean it and I can do this and just focus on what I can really do and leave the rest to God.
My lesson:  Why did I wait so long to do this??!?!?!  DUH!!!!!

Baby steps... .

Baby steps and celebrating small victories every 15 minutes!!!!

I remember once reading the concept of time and for how some people 1 hour compares to 15 seconds for others.  Well, my turn to say, let's celebrate every 15 minutes because, after every 15 minutes I'm closer to reaching my goal for today: this big baby step!!!!

Isn't this the way to FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT a battle!?!?!?!?

My lesson:  be patient, love your baby steps, celebrate all small victories!!!!

To have or not to have....

Why should I focus and dwell on what I DON'T HAVE when I have SO MUCH to focus and enjoy on what I DO HAVE?!??!?!?!

How easy it is to understand that concept, is it?!?!?!?

Smelly behaviors?

I was just thinking about how funny some circumstances are.   The first week after surgery, the question of the day (every day by the way!) was: “Have you passed gas?”
The first time the nurse asked me that I told her,
“No!, I have a roommate! I cannot do that or shouldn’t do that!”
“Oh no no,” the nurse said, “here, we encourage that, we want you to pass gas!”
Well, my timing is impeccable!  So, very next day a very nice gentleman took me downstairs for X rays, and of course, as soon as he helped me out of my bed, I PASSED GAS!!!!  Not ONE! A FEW!!!
Immediately I apologize and I said, “Sorry, THEY encourage this behavior here!!!”
Now I think how fast we are usually to blame someone else.  I should’ve said:
“YES MAN! That’s my gas and I’m very proud of it! Although it took some time…. Hmm…
My lesson: own your behaviors even if they smell!!!!!

Fight, Fight, Fight

Everybody has been telling me YEAH, you can fight this one! YEAH, kick some ass! YEAH, you go girl!  And it's wonderful to have all this cheering with you and you feel so good going to the battle.
And so the battle started and I was so ready for it.  Like Little Red Riding Hood, with my basket full of snacks for the length of the treatment, and a bag full of CDs to listen to, thanks to a dear angelical GG friend, books to read, HECK, I was ready for the battle!!!!!  (and my poor hubby carrying everything of course!) :)
In my mind.... FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.... so, bring it on!!!   Well, I guess someone forgot to send an email to my body since the moment the treatment started my body rejected it.   All of a sudden I could see black dots everywhere, (by the way, really nice design for a beautiful dress), the room started spinning like crazy, I needed to put my seatbelt on!  And I remember saying to the nurse: One moment please!
Hee Hee! Little did I know I was having a bad reaction to the medicine.  The nurse stopped it right away and somebody please turn the switch off so the room stops spinning!
My lesson of the day.... YES, I will FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, and there might be some obstacles and these obstacles are only going to add more to my story.
So, we'll try next week again, with the same attitude, big smile, and all the cheering from friends and family with me, and my hubby carrying my picnic basket again!  Because we FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT the battles that come our way.  OH YEAH BABY!!!!

Monday, 19 March 2012

So this morning I was thinking, I better start getting used to the idea of being different now.... Hmmm... I'm different???..... what's the definition of different anyways?  Different than what?!?!?!  than who?!?!?! Aren't we all different anyways?!?!?!?!
I know this sounds cheesy but, aren't we all different and unique in so many ways?!?!?!  So, I'm just in my own way, a person with more stories to tell - YEAH!!!! Just part of the journey and the adventure.
And that's the way I'm going to see all this experience.  Packing stories to share and to relate to and to laugh together, because, when we live life to the fullest, we cannot deny it that.... LIFE IS WONDERFUL and every day, every moment, is part of this wonderful life.
